SEO for the wholesaler: the directory that buyers find
SEO for a wholesale company depends on two numbers: how many positions you actually have and how many of them are visible to the search engine. The buyer is looking for an article, model or compatibility - he will find your card or someone else's card, there is no third option here. On July 31, 2026, we took measurements from three B2B directories: from 1,656 to 13,590 addresses in the sitemap, the first server response was 289-388.1 ms. Their condition is different: in one there are 13,590 addresses and exactly one duplicate, in the other two standard addresses of the site map give garbage.

Situations where this service delivers results
Scenario 1 of 4
The catalog is larger than the search engine has time to get around
From one and a half thousand items, separate accessibility engineering begins: a site map divided by page types, canonical addresses, processing of missing goods. In the measured catalog of medical consumables, the map is assembled from five files — 1,602 products, 32 categories, 17 manufacturers, 4 info pages and the main one. Such a directory crawler passes predictably, a directory without division - how will it turn out.
We'll review your situation in a free audit
Scenario 2 of 4
The order is accepted by the manager, and there are no numbers on the channel
The most common situation in wholesale: applications are sent by phone and messenger, and it is unknown what brought a person to the site. In the B2B industrial sewing machine parts catalog, we found Universal Analytics in the code, which Google disabled on July 1, 2023, and no GA4 property nearby. Three years without data. The counter itself doesn't improve anything—it just takes the guesswork out of it; you still have to read the numbers.
Scenario 3 of 4
The buyer is a legal entity, and the site is silent about it
The buyer has found a position and is looking for an invoice. If cashless payment, VAT and the minimum batch are not mentioned on the page, it goes to the person who says so. The boundary here is fair: an account on the website does not make you a supplier for a legal entity — then there is a contract, deferment, availability according to the volume and a personal manager. The site closes only the first step.
Scenario 4 of 4
The catalog is collected from several suppliers
Dropshipping and multi-brand wholesale have one thing in common: the buyer is looking for the manufacturer, not your name. Pages of brands and suppliers here are a separate entry to the catalog. In the measured catalog of medical products, 17 addresses are allocated for manufacturers, in the catalog of cosmetics for the beauty industry - 166.
What's included
Complete list of work and what you get as a result
We calculate the catalog using two independent methods — using the site map and regular CMS search. The difference between the numbers is a list of what the search engine does not see.
We clean the site map: we remove repetitions, separate page types into separate files, take the map to a standard address and announce it in robots.txt.
We breed canonical addresses and language versions so that two languages do not eat each other, and filters do not produce copies of the same category.
We are building a structure for exact search: article number, model, compatibility, volume. Placement according to the way the buyer is looking, and not according to the way the folders are named in the accounting system.
We make pages for brands and suppliers, if the catalog is collected from several sources: the manufacturer is searched for more often than the name of your company.
We describe the store, contacts and methods of calculation with structured data - so that the question "how to pay here" has a machine answer, and not just a picture on the page.
We display the conditions for legal entities in a visible place: non-cash payment, VAT invoice, minimum batch, multiples of packaging.
We measure requests — application, price request, call. Without it, the channel cannot be seen, and the conversation about the result is based on feelings.
We sew a link between categories, brands and items, so that deep cards do not hang five clicks away from the main one.
We issue a monthly report with a fixed list of numbers—the same set every time, so you can put the months side by side and see the movement.

Free audit of the wholesale catalog
A wholesale buyer comes with a specific request: article number, model, volume, conditions. He does not flip through the window. Therefore, the audit begins with whether it finds the right position — and whether the search engine sees it at all.
What we measure
Directory size by two methodsOn the site map and cross-staff search, showing the discrepancy. Measured landmarks of our B2B directories: 1,656, 1,992, 4,167, 13,590 addresses.
The purity of the indexHow many entries per unique address. In the best of the measured directories, there is one duplicate for 13,590 addresses; in the worst case, 2,454 addresses were repeated three times.
Conditions for a legal entityIs the website showing non-cash settlement, VAT invoice, conditions for volume. Without this, traffic does not convert into orders.
Structured dataAre the store, contacts, and payment methods described? In the measured B2B catalog, there is no markup for 1,848 items.
AnalyticsAre appeals measured? We came across a B2B directory with an analytics system connected that was turned off by Google on July 1, 2023 — that is, no data is collected for three years.
Page speed and weightMeasured contrast in B2B: 120.2 KB of markup on one directory and 751.2 KB on the other.
Language versionsAre all languages present in the sitemap? We found a directory where bilingualism is implemented, but there is not a single address of a second language in the map.
What you get
Your catalog numbers: size, indexing, takes, speed, markup, analytics.
A list of what prevents the buyer from finding a position and placing an order.
The plan for the first three months with a division into the technical part, structure and content.
Conversation for 40 minutes on the document.
Timeline: 3-5 working days
Why is it free
Because in wholesale, decisions are made based on numbers, and starting a conversation otherwise would be inconsistent. The audit shows whether there is work here for a few days or for a few months.
What's next
Next is a plan and estimate by stages with a monthly report with the same set of figures.
Short form: your contact and site URL
Contract, act and 30-day warranty
Every project gets a written contract: scope, deadlines, amount, acceptance procedure. After delivery — act and invoice, then 30 calendar days of warranty.
Sole proprietor & bank transfer
The contractor is a registered sole proprietor. Payment by invoice with closing documents.
Rights & access — yours
Code, design and materials transfer to you after full payment. Domain, hosting, repository and analytics are registered to you.
Client portal instead of email chains
During the project you get access to a portal: contracts, invoices, acts and project status in one place.
European clients
Among our work — projects for Norway, Bulgaria, Moldova and Spain.
Verifiable numbers
Every case in the portfolio comes with a link to a live site and a technical measurement.
Audit first, then pricing
There is no price list on the site intentionally: the scope of the same work differs multiples between clients.
We say "no" when unsure
If the task isn't ours or the deadline is unrealistic — we tell you upfront.
What affects the price
Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently
Directory sizeOne and a half thousand items and thirteen thousand - different works. A map of 1,656 addresses from five files is checked in an hour; on a directory of 13,590 addresses, just checking duplicates takes a day, and you have to check after each download.
The state of indexing at the startA directory with a clean map—1,992 addresses and no duplicates—goes straight to structure. A directory where a standard card address returns 200 with an empty body is treated technically first and is separate weeks before any query work.
Number of language versionsThe second language doubles the checks: canonical, hreflang, presence of both branches in the map. We found a directory where bilingualism works and the switch is on, but there is no second language address in the map.
How the catalog is updatedDaily offloading from the accounting system requires the map to reflect changes, update dates to be correct, and missing item pages to be processed correctly. Otherwise, the crawler spends weeks going to places where there is nothing.
Data status in the cardsThe name "art. 12345" and empty characteristics break both the search on the site and landing under models. Here, either your manager puts the data in order, or it is a separate line of work with its own deadline.
Willingness to show conditionsIf the minimum batch and calculation form can be published, the work is short. If each condition must be agreed with the sales department, the deadline is not determined by technology, but by the speed of approvals within the company.
Process steps
Transparent stages with approval at every step
Total duration:30–90 days
1
Audit and two counts of the directory
3-5 working days
We count the positions on the site map and regular CMS search, we take the first response from the server, the weight of the markup, the state of analytics and structured data. The output is a document with numbers, from which everything else is calculated.
2
Technical part
5-10 working days
Site map at the standard address and in robots.txt, separation by page types, cleaning of duplicates, canonical addresses, language versions, processing of missing items. Here, the number of pages in the index may temporarily drop - this is expected, not a failure.
3
Structure according to the buyer's requests
7-14 working days
Groups of requests with article numbers, models and compatibility are divided into categories, brands and fits. Aligning the tree to edits in the CMS: transferring addresses after publication is more expensive than agreeing on the scheme.
4
Conditions for legal entities and marking
3-6 working days
Non-cash settlement, VAT, minimum batch and multiplicity are displayed on category and card pages. The store, contacts and payment methods are described by structured data, as is done in the wholesale lingerie catalog via acceptedPaymentMethod.
5
Measurement
2-4 working days
An application, a price request, a call and a switch to the messenger become events that are visible in analytics. At the same time, we fix the starting values of all indicators so that there is something to compare the second month with.
6
Monthly cycle
monthly, 30-90 day cycle
Then the work goes on for months: content and relinking according to the priority of demand, monitoring the indexing after each upload, a report with a fixed list of figures and a decision for the next month.

Technologies & integrations
What we build on and what it connects to
Stack
Search Console is the single source of truth about indexing; data with a delay of 2-3 days
GA4 - counts hits, but shows a trend, not a cash register: blockers cut off some of the events
Screaming Frog — full directory crawl; at 13,000 addresses, it is hours, so not every day
sitemap-index with division by types of pages; does not guarantee indexation, Google writes it directly
regular CMS search as the second method of calculation — it does not give accuracy to one, a discrepancy of hundreds catches
structured store data — a chance for an extended snippet; items are not raised
export the price is a comparison of the real nomenclature with what the search engine sees
OpenCart — all three measured catalogs are on it; the site map in it is made by a third-party module, and it is the module that breaks

Cases
Tasks and results in numbers — all metrics measured by us
wholesale store of underwear, catalog of over 13,000 items
Task
Keep a large wholesale catalog fully searchable.
Solution
Site map with division into products and categories, structured store data, contacts and payment methods via acceptedPaymentMethod; the working map is declared in robots.txt.
Result
13,428 product pages and 161 categories — 13,590 addresses, only 1 duplicate. First response 289ms, full download 455.1ms, 8 calculation methods. Defects found: both standard addresses of the site map give garbage, the working one lies at a non-standard address and is held only by the directive in robots.txt; the weight of the markup is 751.2 KB — the heaviest document among the 16 measured sites.

Task
Evaluate why a clean indexed directory is underrepresented in search.
Solution
Counting addresses in the site map, checking language versions, markup and analytics.
Result
1,992 addresses without a single duplicate — 1,848 cards and 138 categories; two language versions with correct uk-ua, ru-ua and x-default; markup weight 120.2 KB — the third lightest document in the sample with a first response of 388.1 ms. Defects: zero structured data on the 1,848-item directory, no sitemap directive in robots.txt, and the connected analytics system was turned off by Google on July 1, 2023 — no data collected for three years.

Task
Check the indexing status of a medium-sized B2B directory.
Solution
Bypassing the index file of the site map with a breakdown by types of pages; checking markup and language versions.
Result
The map is compiled from five files: 1,602 products, 32 categories, 17 manufacturers, 4 information pages and the main one — a total of 1,656 addresses. First response 364.7ms, full load 501.3ms with a markup weight of 401.6KB. Defect: there is no structured markup on the main page at all, only one language version.
What we need from you
We can't start without this — best to prepare in advance
1Access to Search Console and analytics - or consent to have them set up by us.
2Price or download the catalog to compare the real nomenclature with what the search engine sees.
3Understanding who your buyer is: retail point, craftsman, production - they have different structures and different requests.
4Conditions for legal entities in an explicit form: what you offer to the VAT payer, what is the minimum batch.
5One person with the right to make decisions about the structure of the directory.
If something is missing — let us know, we'll help you gather it or do it as a separate task.
FAQ
Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers
How is SEO for wholesale different from retail?
By request and by the buyer. In wholesale, they are looking for an article, model or compatibility, not "buy cheap". Therefore, the structure is built for exact search, and the conditions for a legal entity should be visible on the page. Without the second, the first does not work: a person found a position and did not see how to bill it.
Where do you start on a big catalog?
From two counts. How many items you actually have is a regular CMS search or price upload; what the search engine sees is the site map. The difference between the numbers is the first list of works. Next, we look at how many entries fall on one unique address: in the measured underwear catalog, there was exactly one duplicate for 13,590 addresses, and in the cosmetics catalog, next to the working card, there was an outdated vein, where 2,454 addresses were repeated three times.
Our catalog is updated daily - is this a problem?
This is a requirement for the technical part, not a reason to refuse. The site map must reflect changes, the update dates must be authentic, and the missing items pages must be processed correctly. Otherwise, the crawler spends weeks visiting addresses where there is nothing, and new cards are waiting for their turn.
Do you need descriptions for thousands of items?
Not for everyone and not immediately — and the recommendation here is simple: first the technique, then the texts. Categories and the most popular groups are filled first, cards - according to the priority of demand. In the measured B2B directory, the sitemap is clean for 1,848 items, 1,992 addresses are without duplicates, and there is zero structured data. In such a directory, the descriptions will change less than the markup and working analytics.
Should we open wholesale prices?
This is a business decision, not an SEO one. Hidden prices reduce the conversion to an application, but in the niche part it is not possible otherwise. The working compromise that we have seen: price on request, but clear conditions - minimum batch, payment form, availability of VAT. At the same time, the search works with characteristics, not with prices.
Do we need analytics if the manager takes the order by phone?
It is especially necessary, because otherwise the channel cannot be seen at all. In the B2B parts catalog, we found Universal Analytics in the code disabled by Google on July 1, 2023, and no modern properties nearby - three years without data. Here is a fair limit: the counter itself does not improve anything, and even with it, some of the events are lost on blockers and consent mode. GA4 shows the trend, not the box office.
What is a normal page weight for a B2B directory?
It is better to take a guide from measurements than from general rules. In our sample, the catalog of spare parts for 1,848 items gives 120.2 KB of markup, the catalog of medical products — 401.6 KB, and the wholesale underwear store for 13,000 items — 751.2 KB. All three work, but the last one is the most expensive for a visitor from the mobile Internet. At the same time, it has the fastest first response — 289 ms, so page weight and server speed live separately.
When will the first changes occur and what will you show in the report?
The technical part gives visible movement in weeks: pages appear in the index, duplicates disappear. The structure and content are months, a cycle of 30-90 days. The report contains the same list every time: catalog position in the index, entries to one unique address, visibility by articles and models, the number of measured calls, the first response of the server to the category and card. One caveat: after cleaning duplicates, the number of pages in the index may temporarily drop - and it should.
Send a link to the catalog and download the price.
In response - two numbers of your catalog, a list of what prevents the buyer from finding the position, and a plan for the first three months. If you work here for a few days, you will hear about it in the first email.
From measured cases13,428 product pages and 161 categories
There is no price list on the site on purpose: the same work differs several times over between two clients, and a “from” figure explains nothing in that case. First a free audit — we count your pages, duplicates and speed — then we name the sum and the deadline and fix both in the contract.
