What affects the price

Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently

  • Number of delivery methodsNova Poshta alone is one scenario. Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, courier and pickup are four different sets of fields, rules and error states, and each has to be tested separately.
  • Number of payment methodsCash on delivery and card payment behave differently: the second adds the return from the payment system and handling of a failed payment. A bank-transfer invoice for sole proprietors and companies is yet another separate scenario.
  • Whether the delivery cost needs to be calculatedShowing a fixed amount is simple. Calculating it by weight, dimensions and region already means working with the carrier's reference data and separate rules for oversized items.
  • The state of the store's theme and modulesIf the cart has already been rewritten several times on top of the standard one, the existing logic has to be understood first. This is the least predictable part, and it is exactly what the free review shows.
  • Where the order should goEmail and the admin panel are the simplest option. Handing the order over to a CRM or accounting system adds field mapping, failure handling and retries.

A store on OpenCart 3 (oct_showcase theme, nginx). Two language versions, uk/ru, with correct hreflang and x-default. A checkout with monobank, cash on delivery via the carrier, cash payment on pickup and a bank-transfer invoice for VAT-registered sole proprietors and companies. Four delivery methods: Nova Poshta, Meest Express, Delivery Auto, pickup in Kharkiv. GTM/GA4, Google Maps and the Telegram/Viber/WhatsApp messengers are connected.

3,565 product cards in the live catalog (measured on 31 July 2026 with OpenCart's built-in search and an empty query: 36 pages of 100 items, the last one with 65). TTFB 0.52 s, full HTML load 0.66 s at 296 KB of markup. 4 payment methods and 4 delivery methods at checkout. Two language versions with valid hreflang and x-default.

Task
Sell sweets, snacks and gift sets with delivery across Ukraine: a catalog with filters by type and occasion, a cart with delivery options, online payment. A particular focus is the speed of the mobile version, because in this niche most orders are impulse purchases made from a phone.
Solution
A store on OpenCart 3.x (octemplates/OCT theme, HTTP/2). 5 online payment methods are connected — LiqPay, WayForPay, Privat24, Visa, Mastercard — and 4 delivery methods: Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, pickup, courier. Free delivery to a Nova Poshta branch for orders from 2,500 UAH is implemented (a banner on the home page), plus contact via Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook.
Result
As of 31 July 2026 the store is up (HTTP 200, HTTPS): the first server response takes 403 ms, full HTML load 532 ms; LiqPay, WayForPay and Privat24 online payment, Visa/Mastercard cards and 4 delivery methods are connected; the home page shows free Nova Poshta delivery for orders from 2,500 UAH.

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

How many steps should a cart have?

As many as it takes to send the order, and not one more. For a store with a single delivery method that is usually one screen: product, contact details, branch, payment. For a store that serves both retail buyers and VAT-registered sole proprietors there will be more steps, because the sets of fields differ. The rule is not about the number of screens but about the buyer understanding on each one what is being asked of them and how much is left.

Does registration really get in the way that much?

Mandatory registration before payment is one of the most common mechanical reasons for an abandoned cart. The person has already decided to buy, and they are asked to come up with a password. The sequence that works is the reverse: the purchase first, then an offer to save the details for next time. For those who want an account, it remains available.

Do you guarantee that conversion will grow?

No, and no honest contractor guarantees that. The decision to buy is shaped by price, availability, delivery time and trust in the store — the cart is only responsible for making sure a decision already made does not fall through on mechanics. We remove the obstacles and show which ones. What happens to sales depends on more than us, and we say so before the work starts, not after.

Can the existing cart be improved instead of building a new one?

In most cases that is exactly what turns out cheaper. First the review shows what is already there: often it is enough to remove two unnecessary fields, show the delivery cost earlier and fix the behavior on phones. We suggest a rebuild from scratch only when the existing logic is so tangled that changing it would cost more than building a new one.

How long does it take?

9 to 29 working days depending on the scope. Most of the time goes not into the changes themselves but into the number of combinations that have to be tested: each delivery method paired with each payment method is a separate scenario, and all of them have to work. We name the exact timeline after the review, when the scope is clear.

The store is running — will you have to stop it?

No. We work on a test copy and touch the live store only when the changes are moved over, and that is agreed in advance. If a window with minimal traffic is needed, we choose it together based on your statistics.

What happens if something breaks after the work?

A 30-calendar-day warranty applies from the date the acceptance act is signed: mistakes that are our fault are fixed free of charge. This is a clause in the contract, not a verbal promise. Changes beyond the agreed scope are estimated separately.

Who owns the code after the work?

You. Property rights to the code and materials pass to the client after full payment, and the result is handed over under an acceptance act. Along with the code we hand over a description of what works and how, so the next contractor does not have to figure it out blind.

Do you work only with OpenCart?

Most often, yes — it is our main platform for stores. But we have also built carts on WooCommerce and on custom platforms. If you have something else, we will tell you honestly at the review whether we take it on: where we will not be useful, it is better to say so in the first email.
