OLX listing descriptions: Textory rewrites your ads through the API

An OLX listing description has to answer what the buyer would otherwise ask in the chat: what exactly is being sold, in what condition, with which specifications and what comes in the set. When you have hundreds of listings and the descriptions are one sentence or a copy of the title, we rewrite them through Textory — our own service — relying only on what is already stated in the listing. We take the texts from your OLX account through the API and return them there, but only after a person has reviewed each new description.

    A model creates text through an API following set rules. This spares you from writing hundreds of similar descriptions by hand.

  3. A person reviews a sample

    We review part of the results and adjust the rules. Only then do the texts go into the catalog.

AI can get facts wrong, so attributes come from your data and a sample is checked by hand. Quality depends on the input data.

Task
Build a service that accepts catalogs from Prom.ua, Rozetka, Horoshop, OpenCart and WooCommerce in XML, YML, CSV or Excel and rewrites product descriptions from their attributes. On this page it sits in the middle of the chain: it receives the OLX listing texts through its REST API.
Solution
A Next.js application that imports catalogs in four formats, with a choice of text style (sales, neutral, technical) and an H2/H3 structure. For integrations — a REST API with keys from the user's account.
Result
TTFB of 220.6 ms and full load in 329.8 ms — the fastest response among the 16 portfolio sites measured, 140.8 KB of HTML, 8 public pages, JSON-LD markup for SoftwareApplication, Offer, Organization, WebSite and FAQPage, a PWA manifest. Measured on July 31, 2026. Rewriting of OLX listings was not part of these measurements: the connection to OLX is built and tested within the project.

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

How do I write an OLX ad description so the buyer does not have to ask again?

Start with what the buyer will ask first: what it is, what condition it is in, the size or model, what comes in the set, how you will ship it. Write only what the item really has, without “the best” or “top.” Do not put a phone number or links in the text: the buyer writes in the OLX chat anyway. For a few listings this is enough to do by hand — our work is needed when there are hundreds of them.

How is this different from an OLX description generator?

A generator gives you text for one listing, and you have to paste it into OLX yourself. Here the texts are taken from your account through the API in batches, rewritten in Textory by rules set for your categories, checked by a person and written back into the same listings. The difference is the volume and the fact that nothing has to be copied by hand.

Where does Textory get the data for a new description?

From the listing itself: the title, the current description and the attributes filled in there. Textory rewrites the description from the product attributes; whatever is not in the data will not be in the text either. If a listing has only a name and photos, we do not write a new text — such a listing goes into a separate list, and adding data to it is up to you.

Do you have a ready-made “rewrite all listings” button?

No. Two parts are ready: the Textory API and the LEO Chat connection to OLX. Writing the rewritten text back into OLX listings is something we set up for you: which selection of listings we take, which rules we write by and who approves the text before it is written.

Will anything in the listing change besides the description?

It will not. The OLX API updates a listing as a whole: the request carries the entire listing, not a single field. So before writing we read the listing again and change only its description, while the price, photos, category and everything else are passed as they are right now. If you have just corrected the price in your OLX account, the fresh read will keep it.

My OLX is already connected to the LEO auto-reply bot. What does that change?

It makes the start easier. LEO pulls listings into its catalog (up to 1,000), so we take the texts for Textory from there, without separate access to OLX. LEO itself does not change listing texts: writing the new description back into OLX is set up separately as part of the project.

Why register my own application on developer.olx.ua?

This is the path without LEO. OLX grants API access through OAuth2: you register your own application on developer.olx.ua, OLX reviews the request and sends a Client ID and Client Secret. The application is registered to you, not to us, so the access stays with you after the work is finished. OLX does not say how long the review takes.

Won't OLX block me for a mass update?

The only documented restriction we rely on is the limit: 4,500 requests per 5 minutes from one IP address, and going over it means a 30-minute block. Writing goes in portions with a margin below that limit. What OLX decides about a particular listing after a change does not depend on us, and we will not promise anything here.

Will I get more views and sales?

Nobody can honestly name a figure. A clear description removes some of the repeated questions in the chat and helps the buyer decide without asking again. But views depend on the price, photos, category and promotion, and the text has no effect on those.
