Tracking page: the buyer checks the parcel every day, and not on your site

Between payment and delivery, the buyer checks the parcel several times, usually on the carrier's website, because yours has no such page. That means lost return visits to your site and calls to your manager asking, “Where is my order?” Your own status page brings this traffic back and takes the simplest inquiries off your manager, but on one condition: the statuses have to be written in plain language, not copied from the carrier's code list.

What's included

Complete list of work and what you get as a result

  • an order status page on your domain, not a link to the carrier
  • statuses in clear language, such as “left the city” or “at your branch,” instead of code list entries
  • access without logging in to an account: by order number and phone or via a link from the email
  • pulling statuses from several carriers into one view
  • showing the expected date if the carrier provides it
  • notifications about key status changes, if you need them
  • correct behavior when the carrier does not respond: we show the last known state with the update time
  • a link to the carrier for those who need technical details
  • analytics events so you can see whether the page is used
When this service isn't right

What's not included — so there are no surprises at delivery

  • the speed and quality of the delivery service's work
  • tracing lost shipments, which is a matter for the carrier
  • promises to reduce inquiries by a percentage
  • replacing personal communication when a parcel really has a problem
  • changing statuses manually “to make it look better”
Who it's for

Situations where this service delivers results

Scenario 1 of 4

A store where the manager answers “where's my parcel” every day

The simplest inquiries, easy to take off the manager's plate: the person just does not know where to look. A status page handles most of these questions.

We'll review your situation in a free audit

A free review

We look at how many inquiries are really about status and whether it is technically possible to pull it from your carriers.

What we measure

  • How many status inquiries there areWe ask your managers: if “where's my parcel” comes up several times a day, the page will pay off quickly.
  • How many carriersEach has its own way of providing statuses. Their number determines the scope of work more than anything else.
  • Whether there is access to their systemsKeys or an account are needed. Without access there is nowhere to pull statuses from, and we check this first.
  • How the buyer learns the tracking numberIf the number does not make it into the email or the account, this has to be fixed first; otherwise there is nothing to track.
  • Whether notifications are neededA message about arrival is useful; one about every intermediate movement is not. It is better to decide this before the work starts.
  • What to show when the carrier is silentServices sometimes do not respond. A blank page is worse than the last known state with a timestamp.

What you get

  • an estimate of how many inquiries the page will take off your team
  • a check of technical feasibility for your carriers
  • an estimate of the scope of work
  • an honest answer if the benefit will be small

Timeline: 1–3 working days

Why is it free

Half the answer lies in talking with your managers and checking access. That is not the kind of work worth charging for.

What's next

You get an answer and an estimate. Then you decide for yourself.

What affects the price

Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently

  • Number of carriersOne means a simple connection. Four mean four different sets of statuses that have to be brought to a shared, clear view.
  • Translating statusesThe carrier's technical codes have to be translated into plain language. It is not a translation of words but a decision about what to show the buyer and what not to.
  • NotificationsThe communication channel, frequency rules and customer consent. Notifications about every parcel movement are irritating, so key events have to be selected.
  • Access without logging inA link from the email is convenient, but it needs protection so that someone else's number does not show another order's data.
  • Failure behaviorCaching the last state and showing when it was updated is a small piece of work, but without it the page looks broken.
  • State of the store's codeIf tracking numbers are stored haphazardly, this has to be put in order first.

TTFB 0.52 s, full HTML load 0.66 s at 296 KB of markup. 4 payment methods and 4 delivery methods at checkout. Two language versions with valid hreflang and x-default.

an online store delivering sweets, snacks and gift sets

Task
Sell sweets, snacks and gift sets with delivery across Ukraine: a catalog with filters by type and occasion, a cart with a choice of delivery, online payment. A particular focus is the speed of the mobile version, because in this niche most orders are impulse purchases made from a phone.
Solution
A store on OpenCart 3.x (octemplates/OCT theme, HTTP/2). 5 online payment methods are connected — LiqPay, WayForPay, Privat24, Visa, Mastercard — and 4 delivery methods: Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, pickup, courier. Free delivery to a Nova Poshta branch on orders from UAH 2,500 is implemented (a banner on the home page), along with contact via Telegram, Viber, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
Result
As of 31 July 2026 the store is up (HTTP 200, HTTPS): first server response 403 ms, full HTML load 532 ms; LiqPay, WayForPay and Privat24 online payment and Visa/Mastercard cards are connected, plus 4 delivery methods; the home page runs a free Nova Poshta delivery offer on orders from UAH 2,500.

Process steps

Transparent stages with approval at every step

Total duration:5–20 days

  1. Review and access

    1–3 working days

We estimate the number of status inquiries and check whether it is technically possible to pull data from your carriers.

  2. Status dictionary

    1–3 working days

We map the codes of different carriers to a shared set of clear states. This is the main decision, and we make it together.

  3. Status page

    3–8 working days

We build a page on your domain with access without logging in, a history of states and a link to the carrier for details.

  4. Notifications

    2–5 working days

If needed, we add messages about key changes with a frequency rule. If notifications are not needed, we skip this stage.

  5. Failures and testing

    1–4 working days

We set up the behavior for when the carrier goes silent and test on real shipments from each carrier.

  6. Release

    1 working day

We roll it out and watch the first page views. Then the 30-day warranty from the date the acceptance act is signed applies.

What we need from you

We can't start without this — best to prepare in advance

  1. a list of the carriers you ship with
  2. access to their systems, or keys
  3. how the customer currently learns the tracking number
  4. whether notifications are needed and through which channels
  5. how many status inquiries your managers receive
  6. who on your side accepts the work

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

Why have our own page if the carrier has a website?

For two reasons. First, the buyer checks the parcel several times, and that is dozens of return visits to your site that currently go to someone else. Second, carrier statuses are written for logistics staff, not for buyers. “Arrived at the branch” and “shipment created” are different things, and confusing them produces the same calls to your manager.

Can the status be shown without registration?

Yes, and that is the right way: requiring an account just to view a parcel creates an obstacle where there should not be one. A workable option is a link from the email or a lookup by order number and phone. The key point is that someone else's number must not open another order's data, and this is tested separately.

Are notifications needed for every movement of the parcel?

No, and this is a common mistake. A message about every scan is irritating and teaches people to ignore your notifications altogether. There are usually two or three useful states: shipped, arrived at the branch, storage period ending. The person can check the rest themselves if they want.

What happens if the carrier does not respond?

We show the last known state and the time it was updated. A blank page or an error looks as if your site is broken, even though the problem is temporary and on the carrier's side. It is a small part of the work that is almost always skipped.

Will this reduce the number of inquiries?

Simple “where's my parcel” questions, mostly yes. But when there really is a problem with a shipment, the person will still write or call, and that is normal: the page is not meant to replace communication in difficult cases. We do not quote percentages.

How long does it take?

8 to 21 working days. Connecting one carrier is quick; the time goes into mapping the statuses of several carriers to a shared, clear set.

Can statuses be edited manually?

We do not do that. The status has to match what the carrier says: a state “improved” by hand will sooner or later diverge from reality, and trust in the page will disappear along with trust in the store.

What if we ship with only one carrier?

Then the work is noticeably simpler and cheaper. The benefit stays the same: the buyer comes back to your site rather than someone else's and sees the status in your words.

  • We work under a contract

There is no price list on the site on purpose: the same work differs several times over between two clients, and a “from” figure explains nothing in that case. First a free audit — we count your pages, duplicates and speed — then we name the sum and the deadline and fix both in the contract.
