You sell on Prom, orders keep coming in, and every now and then the question of your own store comes up. What usually prompts it is the bill: an annual package, a commission on orders, a balance that has to be topped up. Yet Prom does give you something for that money, and some of it your own site will not bring on its own.
The decision here is made from your numbers. What can be seen from the outside in stores on Prom, Horoshop, and OpenCart we have already measured in our comparison of 43 stores, so we will not repeat it here. All Prom terms below are taken from prom.ua and the seller help center at support.prom.ua as of 10/14/2026; links to the specific articles are at the end.
What exactly you pay Prom for
The payment has two parts. The fixed part is an annual listing package. On the "How to sell on Prom" page, packages differ by the number of products, from 1,000 to 100,000. As of 10/14/2026, the same page advertised "Легкий старт" ("Easy Start") for 1,900 UAH per year: it was for new sellers who complete identification as a sole proprietor (FOP) or LLC (TOV), and it ran as a promotion until 10/31/2026; check the Prom page for current terms. The full price of the "Prom топ" ("Prom Top") package for up to 100,000 products, according to the help center, is 11,500 UAH including VAT for 365 days. For some services, the public offer also requires a guarantee payment to the balance of at least 500 UAH.
The variable part is the commission in the ProSale catalog. The single commission starts at 4.2% of the value of the ordered product and depends on the category; the seller cannot edit it. The "Економ" ("Economy") mode halves it, but it is not available to everyone: the help center names top sellers, and sellers without performance indicators are allowed it only in pay-per-click campaigns. "Більше продажів" ("More Sales") and "Турбо" ("Turbo") raise the commission in exchange for promotion in search results. It is charged only for completed orders. For products that are mostly ordered by phone, a different model applies: payment in hryvnias for each buyer visit to the product page, debited once a day.
Expensive products have a separate rule, and the help center shows it with an example: a product priced at 12,000 UAH in the regular mode with a 6% commission costs the seller 640 UAH, that is, 600 UAH on the first 10,000 and another 2% on the remainder.
So what these amounts buy is access to buyers inside Prom. The main question for your bill is this: how many orders did Prom itself bring, and how many people would have come to you without it.
A site on Prom and your own store are different things
Prom's plans include a "company site," and that is what is often taken to be your own store. Its terms depend on the address.
The help center explicitly calls a site on a subdomain like vashsite.prom.ua part of the marketplace. Since 5/19/2025, orders placed through its cart are charged a commission under the catalog rules if the product is added to a ProSale campaign. Sites on such subdomains registered on or after 5/30/2025 are not indexed by search engines, and for indexing Prom recommends connecting your own domain. To the question of whether the site's terms will change, the help article on subdomain sites gives this answer: "Not at the moment. But we cannot guarantee that the listing terms will not be updated over time."
With your own domain, a different fee applies: 10 UAH including VAT for every order placed. According to the help article on the company site, the exceptions are Пром-оплата (Prom's built-in payment), "Оплатити частинами" ("Pay in installments"), duplicates, and test orders. The package description adds that the fee is also debited for canceled orders, so it is worth clarifying this with support. You buy the domain from a registrar yourself and point its name servers to Prom (ns1–ns3.promdns.net).
The site runs on the platform's software under its public offer; the domain is registered by you.
What you can take with you if you ever leave
According to Prom's help center:
- products can be exported to XLS, CSV, or YML, but only on a paid package; wholesale prices are not included in YML, and the link to the file arrives by email and is valid for 12 hours;
- orders can be exported to XLS or XML with the number, date, delivery and payment method, order source, and the buyer's phone, email, and address;
- the customer list with full name, phone, email, number of orders, and order total can be exported to xls;
- a Google Merchant Center feed is generated in the same export section.
What we did not find in the help center: how store and product reviews are transferred, and what happens to the page URLs on your domain when you disconnect it from Prom. These two questions are best put to support in writing. Prom builds its buyer rating from reviews by all sellers on Prom and Bigl.ua; this is a platform feature, and your own site will not have it.
What Prom still does better
First and foremost, it brings buyers. According to Prom itself, about 6 million online shoppers regularly order on it. Your own store does not have such an audience from day one: visitors have to be brought there through advertising or search, and that is a separate budget.
Next comes protection against risky orders. The seller sees a buyer's rating based on their history across different stores, and Prom awards top sellers bonuses when a parcel is not picked up. Пром-оплата, "Оплатити частинами," Nova Poshta, Ukrposhta, and Meest are connected in the dashboard without a developer. On your own site, each integration will have to be set up separately, and there will be no rating of buyers from other stores at all.
That is why your own site can be launched alongside Prom without closing your marketplace store. The catalog lives with you, Prom gets a feed from the same source, and prices and stock levels stay in sync. How this works is described on the page about Prom integration, and which feed fields get lost most often is covered in our measurement of 21 Prom feeds.
How to check against your own numbers
Take the data from your Prom dashboard for the last 12 months.
- Export your orders to XLS. Look at the values in the "Джерело замовлення" ("Order source") field, which records where each order came from. If it distinguishes the catalog from the company site, split the orders by it; if not, ask support how to get this breakdown.
- Add up the charges. The "Поповнення та списання" ("Top-ups and charges") section shows each commission as a separate transaction. Add the package price and you get the cost of a year on Prom in hryvnias and as a percentage of revenue.
- Look at repeat buyers. The customer list has a "Лояльні" ("Loyal") group: two or more orders or messages and activity in the last three months. If there are many such people, part of your sales rests on your service, and these are exactly the buyers your own site can serve without the marketplace commission. Before writing to them from your own site, check Prom's public offer and whether the buyers consented to mailings.
- Calculate the cost of traffic. The orders that the catalog brings today will have to be bought with advertising on your own site. Compare what such an order will cost with the commission you pay now.
When the commission turns out moderate and almost all orders come from the catalog, the costs of your own store will take a long time to pay off, and Prom is worth keeping as your main channel. The picture is different if a noticeable share of buyers come back and your assortment has outgrown what is convenient to manage in a marketplace dashboard. Then it is time to price out your own site.
Where Stable Shop fits
You can build your own store on different platforms; we have described separately what a store on its own platform gives you. One option is our product Stable Shop, a store engine built on Laravel that is currently being prepared for launch. It makes sense when the business is more complex than a marketplace dashboard: one SKU sits in several warehouses, each with its own price, stock level, and delivery time, and dealers need tiers of wholesale prices by customer group. Every stock movement is recorded as a separate row with its author and time. Exports to Prom, Rozetka, OLX, and Google Shopping are built into the core, so the catalog is managed in one place and Prom remains one of the channels. The code and data sit on your server; the model is a one-time purchase of the engine or a rental on our hosting.
It has its limits too. If you have one warehouse, a few hundred products, and no plans for wholesale prices or custom development, you do not need Stable Shop: it is cheaper to stay on Prom or rent a website builder. There is no product reservation with a cart timer yet, and Rozetka Delivery and Meest are stubs. Details are on the Stable Shop page.
Where to start
If the decision is not obvious after the check, we offer a free catalog review. We will look at your product and order export, warehouses, and integrations and come back with a stage-by-stage estimate within 1–3 business days. If the review shows you are better off working only on Prom, we will say so in our first email. If a second channel or a move makes sense, the order of work is described on the page about migrating from Prom. The work is done under a contract, with a 30-calendar-day warranty from the date the acceptance act is signed, and we respond within two hours.
We have covered other platforms separately: Horoshop pricing plans, the limits of OpenCart, and what the cost of an online store is made of.
