UX audit: not «make it prettier», but a list of the places where a person stops and never reaches the end

There is traffic, there are few orders — and the guessing begins. One person advises changing the button colour, another redoing the home page, a third building a new site altogether. The problem is that all three may be wrong, and there is only one way to check: walk the buyer's path step by step and see where it breaks. An audit gives not an opinion about beauty but a list of specific places with an explanation of why a person stops there.

What's included

Complete list of work and what you get as a result

  • walking the whole buyer's path: finding the product, the catalogue, the card, the cart, checkout, confirmation
  • a list of the places where a person stops, with the cause explained rather than the looks rated
  • a separate check on a phone as an independent path, not a passing glance
  • a comparison with how those same places are built in other stores in the niche
  • cross-checking the findings against analytics data where it exists
  • sorting what was found by strength of impact and cost of fixing
  • an honest «this is an assumption» mark where there is no data and nothing to verify against
  • an order of action: what to do first and what can wait
When this service isn't right

What's not included — so there are no surprises at delivery

  • fixing what was found — that is separate work with a separate estimate
  • drawing a new design as part of the audit
  • research with live respondents
  • promises of conversion growth after the fixes
  • rating the looks in «like it — do not like it» terms
Who it's for

Situations where this service delivers results

Scenario 1 of 4

A store with traffic and no orders

The most common case. The advertising works, people arrive, and then something happens — and nobody knows what. That is exactly what has to be found.

We'll review your situation in a free audit
A short conversation before the audit

Before the work we establish whether an audit will answer your question at all: some problems are visible without one.

What we measure

  • What exactly worries you«Few orders» is not a task. We need to understand what you compare it against and when it got worse: that narrows the search area sharply.
  • Whether analytics exists and holds dataWith data the audit rests on drop-off facts. Without it — on experience and comparison, and that is weaker. We say so in advance.
  • Where people come fromTraffic that is not your audience produces the same picture as a bad site. That cause has to be ruled out first, otherwise the audit looks in the wrong place.
  • What you have already triedIf the button has already been repainted three times, that is useful information: it shows where the search went before and why it found nothing.
  • Whether you are ready to fix thingsAn audit with no intention to change anything is money spent. Better to say so before the start than after the report is handed over.
  • Whether starting elsewhere is simplerSometimes it is visible straight away: the site loads in seven seconds or has no mobile version. Then the audit waits, and we say so outright.

What you get

  • an answer on whether an audit will address your question
  • a list of what is visible without one
  • an estimate of the scope and timeline
  • honest advice to start elsewhere, if that is the case

Timeline: 1 conversation

Why is it free

Half the audit requests are closed by a single conversation: the cause is either already known or lies outside the site's usability. We would rather not charge for confirming the obvious.

What's next

You get an understanding of whether this is your case. Then you decide for yourself.

Short form: your contact and site URL

  • Contract, act and 30-day warranty

Every project gets a written contract: scope, deadlines, amount, acceptance procedure. After delivery — act and invoice, then 30 calendar days of warranty.

  • Sole proprietor & bank transfer

The contractor is a registered sole proprietor. Payment by invoice with closing documents.

  • Rights & access — yours

Code, design and materials transfer to you after full payment. Domain, hosting, repository and analytics are registered to you.

  • Client portal instead of email chains

During the project you get access to a portal: contracts, invoices, acts and project status in one place.

  • European clients

Among our work — projects for Norway, Bulgaria, Moldova and Spain.

  • Verifiable numbers

Every case in the portfolio comes with a link to a live site and a technical measurement.

  • Audit first, then pricing

There is no price list on the site intentionally: the scope of the same work differs multiples between clients.

  • We say "no" when unsure

If the task isn't ours or the deadline is unrealistic — we tell you upfront.

What affects the price

Why two seemingly identical tasks are priced differently

  • Depth of the checkWalking the main path and a full review of the catalogue with filters, cards and search are different amounts of work.
  • Whether analytics existsWith data, guesses get verified and the real drop-off figures are visible. Without it the audit rests on experience alone — faster, but weaker.
  • Size of the catalogueIn a store of a hundred items everything is visible in a day. In a catalogue of tens of thousands you also have to check whether a product can be found at all.
  • Number of scenariosA retail buyer and a VAT-registered client walk different paths. Each additional scenario is a separate walk with its own findings.
  • Comparison with the nicheChecking how the same thing is done elsewhere gives the most useful arguments, but it is a separate sweep of sites recording what is there.
  • Form of handoverA list of findings is cheaper. A worked-through document explaining each place with an order of action is closer to a small project.

Tasks and results in numbers — all metrics measured by us

a sample of 41 Ukrainian online stores

Task
Check how complete the stores' product cards are: whether there are attribute filters, comparison and displayed ratings — all of which grow out of the quality of the product data itself.
Solution
An external measurement of the home page and one product page from the sitemap: traces of features in the HTML, product markup, prices and attributes. The presence of a trace, not the quality of the implementation.
Result
Measurement 2026-08-08, 39 stores: filter by attributes: 9 sites out of 30; product comparison: 9 sites out of 30; rating markup: 3 sites out of 30.

Process steps

Transparent stages with approval at every step

Total duration:5–15 days

  1. Goals and data

    1–2 working days

We establish what counts as success and look at the analytics, if it exists. This shows where the drop-off is largest and where to look first.

  2. Walking the path

    2–4 working days

We go through everything as a buyer: finding the product, the catalogue, the card, the cart, checkout. We record every place where we had to stop or guess.

  3. A separate walk from a phone

    1–3 working days

Not an «adaptivity check» but the same path from scratch. On a phone about half of all findings turn up, and they are different ones.

  4. Comparison with the niche

    1–3 working days

We look at how the same places are built in other stores in your niche. This answers «but surely everyone does it that way» — sometimes they do not.

  5. Cross-checking with data

    1–2 working days

We verify the findings with figures: is there really drop-off at this step. Whatever is neither confirmed nor refuted we mark as an assumption.

  6. Report and conversation

    1–2 working days

We hand over the list sorted by impact and cost of fixing and go through it together. Then the 30-day warranty from the date the acceptance act is signed applies.

An audit or a rebuild straight away

How this option differs from the alternative

Causes of drop-offnamed one by one
Scope of workit is visible what can be left alone
A quick resultpart of the findings can be fixed in a day
Costan extra step before the work
When a rebuild is justified without an auditoverkill if the site is being written off anyway
What we need from you

We can't start without this — best to prepare in advance

  1. access to analytics, if it exists and has accumulated data
  2. which orders are the ones you want and which are rather a nuisance
  3. what you have already tried changing and how that ended
  4. a list of the competitors buyers compare you against
  5. whether there are scenarios beyond a retail purchase — wholesale, VAT, collection in person
  6. who on your side accepts the work

If something is missing — let us know, we'll help you gather it or do it as a separate task.

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions — with concrete answers

How is this different from «please have a look at our site»?

In that the result is not an opinion but a list of places with causes. An opinion about the looks can be had for free from anyone, and it usually changes nothing. We record where exactly a person has to guess, go back, or enter something redundant — and that can already be fixed.

We have no analytics. Does an audit make sense?

It does, but a weaker one, and we say so before the start. With data the findings get verified against drop-off figures; without it we rely on the walk and on comparison with other stores. Part of the conclusions then remains assumptions — and in the report they will be marked as such rather than passed off as facts.

How many findings are there usually?

We do not name a number in advance: an honest figure depends on the store, and a figure promised beforehand is a sale rather than an audit. What can be said is that the count matters less than the sorting. A few findings with strong impact are worth more than thirty minor remarks about the looks.

You will fix what you find too?

We can, but that is separate work with a separate estimate, and we deliberately do not mix it with the audit. Otherwise a temptation appears to find more than there is. Part of the findings you will be quite able to fix yourself or with your own people — and we mark outright which ones.

Why do you look at the mobile version separately?

Because it is not the same path in a smaller window but a different path. On a phone search works differently, filters are visible differently, an address is entered differently, and half the findings happen exactly there. A check «while we are at it», through a narrowed browser window, does not show this.

Why compare with other stores?

To answer the most common objection: «but surely everyone does it that way». Sometimes they do, and then the finding is not critical. Sometimes they do not — and that is the strongest argument. We are in the habit of measuring niches externally, by traces of features in page code, and we rely on such measurements rather than on impressions.

How long does it take?

5 to 15 working days. Walking the path is quick; the time goes on the separate mobile check, the comparison with the niche and the cross-check with data. If there are several scenarios — retail, wholesale, VAT — each adds its own walk.

How much will sales grow after the fixes?

We do not know and do not promise. The audit shows where people stop; whether they start buying after a fix depends on the product, the price and how carefully everything is done. We advise putting analytics events on the problem steps before the changes, so you see the difference yourself rather than from our words.

There is no price list on the site on purpose: the same work differs several times over between two clients, and a “from” figure explains nothing in that case. First a free audit — we count your pages, duplicates and speed — then we name the sum and the deadline and fix both in the contract.
